West vs. West Cup Finals?, Umm I dont get it

Im sure Eklund was trying to say some thing with the title of his blog today about the start of the start of the 2nd round (western conference) series between DET and ANA.  What that something is completely escapes me (and the members of his site) as it makes no sense on ANY level (to true NHL fans).

A few good replies from the regulars of his own site kinda sum it up:
