Prucha to PIT (updated)

The Penguins, Flames, and Avalanche are pushing hardest for Peter Prucha right now

OLD RUMOR - The major player in that deal would have to be Staal, but of course the Rangers would have to move money around as well…I am told that Prucha to Pittsburgh or Edmonton, and Rozsival to Dallas are possibilities. Those deals could happen, but the determining factor would be Marc Staal to start…But Dubinsky, Girardi, and some top picks will be included I am told.

Malkin for Kovalchuk +

February 17th, 2009 by Hog | 10 Comments | Filed in Atlanta, Incorrect Rumors, Pittsburgh

I am still trying to get much of it “on the record” but I can now tell you, at least according to three of my sources, that the team the Penguins are talking to the most appears to be the Atlanta Thrashers. The two obviously hooked up for the Hossa deal last year.

Updated: I am allowed to report now that the deal involves, “top line talent” going each way.  While there have been rumors that the Thrashers would like Malkin for Kovalchuk + [source]

Whitney to MTL

February 14th, 2009 by Hog | No Comments | Filed in Incorrect Rumors, Montreal, Pittsburgh

Rumors were flying around last week that Kovalev could be dealt to Pittsburgh for Whitney. I didn’t report it, because none of my sources were saying it, I was only hearing internet chatter. However, a source now tells me that Whitney to Montreal is a definite possibility, but I am told Kovalev is NOT involved.
